To promote the common professional interests of members; to represent marriage and family therapy as a distinct mental health profession to the public and to governing bodies; to maintain the ethical standards of marriage and family therapy; and to represent and promote the well-being of families in Indiana.
Thank you for visiting the homepage of Indiana’s premier providers of Mental Health Services. While Marriage and Family Therapists are expertly trained to provide services to Couples and Families, we also provide counseling and therapy services for a wide variety of issues to children, adolescents, individuals, adults, school, corporations, and government entities.
We can do this by being trained in systems theory, at both the Masters and Doctoral level, at an accredited higher education institution and then obtaining licensure through the Behavioral Health Board of the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. This licensing process is rigorous and requires at least 1000 hours of direct “in-session” client hours, 100 hours of supervision as well as a comprehensive test of our skills prior to licensure.
This website is designed to provide information for our members and the public, who may be seeking the services of, or more information about, a Marriage and Family Therapist. Please explore the site to find out more about us! However, if you have any questions, comments, or ideas please feel free to contact your area board member, our office staff, or myself.

The IAMFT Board of Directors Welcomes Your Donations!!!
Since IAMFT is a 501(C6) organization, it can accept donations to support the promotion of our profession. Some of those donations are entirely tax deductible since they do not go to support any lobbying efforts. In 2007, the Board of Directors established an account to provide conference scholarships to students who applied based on need. Donations from members are appreciated by the students and by those of us who desire to see our discipline strengthened by new, well trained professionals.
General donations are also accepted and are tax deductible at the 65% level which reflects our use of general funds to enlist the aid of our lobbyist, Mark Scherer.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to make any size donation. Make checks payable to: IAMFT
Please mail donations to:
IAMFT Central Office
